Dock window shortcut keys in Windows 7

October 08, 2009

I’m a huge fan of the docking feature in Windows 7 that allows you to dock windows to the left or right half of the screen, or to fill the screen, by simply moving the window to the left edge, right edge, or top edge respectively. What I didn’t know until I stumbled on it by accident is that the same can be achieved if you press the following key combinations:

WIN + left arrow - dock active window to the left
WIN + right arrow - dock active window to the right
WIN + up arrow - maximise active window
WIN + down arrow - mimimise the active window

The simple things - great stuff!
